1. These Terms
These Terms govern your use of the Clean Copy website, web application, browser extension, account system and related services.
Clean Copy is operated by Mattias Puhm under the Nobeware name. By using Clean Copy, you agree to these Terms.
2. Clean Copy
Clean Copy is a content-cleaning and quality-assurance tool. Depending on the product and enabled features, it may process text, links, images and supported document or structured-data files.
Features may include cleaning or detecting hidden Unicode, unusual spacing, formatting artifacts, tracking parameters, image metadata and other supported content characteristics.
Features may differ between the web application and browser extension.
3. Local processing
Clean Copy's standard cleaning is designed to process content locally on your device. When optional AI Enhancement is not used, the content you clean is not uploaded to our servers for cleaning.
If you enable and use AI Enhancement, the relevant bounded content is sent through Clean Copy's backend to OpenAI for the requested text review, recognition or extraction. AI results may be incomplete or incorrect, so you should review important output. Supported local processing remains the fallback when AI Enhancement is unavailable.
Account, authentication, entitlement and billing information are handled separately as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Your content
You remain responsible for content you use with Clean Copy and must have any rights or permissions required to copy, modify, publish, distribute or otherwise use it.
Clean Copy does not give you permission to violate copyright, intellectual-property rights, legally required attribution, academic-integrity requirements, platform rules or applicable law.
5. No authorship determination
Clean Copy is a cleaning and quality-assurance tool. The presence or absence of hidden characters, metadata, formatting artifacts or similar characteristics does not by itself establish who created content or whether it was created using artificial intelligence.
6. Accounts
Some Clean Copy features require a verified account or active access. You are responsible for maintaining control of your email account and authentication session.
You may not intentionally manipulate, bypass or interfere with Clean Copy's trial, payment, entitlement or access-control systems.
7. Separate web and extension trials
The Clean Copy web application and browser extension may each provide their own separate free trial.
A web trial applies to the web application. An extension trial applies to the extension. The trials do not transfer between products and one does not extend or replace the other.
If you sign into the extension while a web trial is active, the extension uses its own applicable trial or paid-access state. If you sign into the website while an extension trial is active, the website uses its own applicable trial or paid-access state.
Where advertised as such, a trial lasts 7 days and requires no credit card.
8. Paid access
An active paid Clean Copy plan is shared across the Clean Copy web application and supported Clean Copy browser extension. You do not need separate paid plans for each.
You must use the Clean Copy account associated with the purchase. Active paid access takes precedence over product-specific trial access.
Purchasing a paid plan does not create, restart or extend a free trial.
9. Clean Copy software licence
Clean Copy is licensed, not sold. Except where a particular version or third-party component is distributed under a separate licence, Clean Copy remains proprietary software.
Trial access grants a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable right to use Clean Copy for the duration of the applicable trial.
Monthly and Yearly plans grant a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable right to use Clean Copy while the applicable paid access remains active.
A Lifetime plan grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable permanent right to use the applicable Clean Copy software, subject to these Terms.
Lifetime personal modification
A Lifetime user may modify a lawfully obtained local copy of the Clean Copy browser extension solely for that user's own personal, non-commercial use.
This permission does not apply to the hosted Clean Copy website, backend services, authentication systems or other infrastructure that is not distributed to the user.
What the licence does not allow
Unless we give separate written permission or mandatory law expressly provides otherwise, you may not:
- Redistribute or share Clean Copy software or modified copies.
- Publish Clean Copy source code or a modified public fork.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit copies of Clean Copy.
- Create or distribute a competing version based on Clean Copy software.
- Make Clean Copy software available to third parties as your own product or service.
- Remove or bypass access controls for the purpose of redistribution or unauthorized access.
Separate licences still apply. If a particular Clean Copy version or third-party component includes a separate licence granting different or broader rights, that separate licence controls those rights for that version or component.
10. Third-party components
Clean Copy may contain third-party software distributed under its own open-source or other licence. Those components remain subject to their respective licences and notices.
11. Supported files
Support can differ by file format and product version. Damaged, encrypted, scanned, unusually encoded, unsupported or excessively large files may not work.
PDF text extraction requires a compatible extractable text layer unless Clean Copy provides another supported local or AI-assisted extraction method.
12. Important files and backups
You should retain original copies of important images, documents and files. Cleaning, conversion or reconstruction can change file data.
Clean Copy should not be treated as your only backup.
13. Acceptable use
You must not use Clean Copy to violate applicable law, compromise other systems, distribute malicious software, abuse trials, circumvent paid-access controls, interfere with Clean Copy infrastructure or gain unauthorized access to another person's account.
14. Changes to Clean Copy
Clean Copy may be updated, improved or changed over time. Features may be added, modified or removed.
Changes affecting mandatory paid consumer rights remain subject to applicable law.
15. Availability
We aim to keep Clean Copy reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Functionality can be affected by maintenance, browser or operating-system changes, third-party outages, technical problems, security requirements or legal requirements.
AI Enhancement is subject to reasonable request and usage limits that can vary by access type and reset period. We may temporarily limit AI requests to protect service availability, control abuse or manage provider capacity. Reaching an AI limit does not disable supported local cleaning.
16. Third-party services
Parts of Clean Copy depend on third-party services such as Stripe, Supabase, Resend, Cloudflare, OpenAI for optional AI Enhancement, browser vendors and extension stores. Those services may have their own terms and availability requirements.
17. Disclaimer
Clean Copy cannot guarantee that every possible hidden character, metadata field, formatting issue, tracking technique, malformed file or compatibility issue will always be detected or removed.
You should review important output before relying on it.
18. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Clean Copy is not liable for losses caused solely by unsupported files, intentionally enabled transformations, failure to retain an original or backup, use contrary to these Terms, or third-party failures outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
19. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
20. Account restriction or termination
We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of fraud, payment abuse, unlawful activity, security threats or serious or repeated violations of these Terms.
21. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. If you are a consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections available to you under applicable consumer law.
