1. Who operates Clean Copy
Clean Copy is operated by Mattias Puhm under the Nobeware name. This Privacy Policy applies to the Clean Copy website, web application, browser extension, account pages and related services.
2. Local processing
Clean Copy is designed so that its standard cleaning runs locally on your device.

When AI Enhancement is not used, the content you clean is not uploaded to our servers for cleaning. We do not use cleaning content for advertising or profiling.
Optional AI Enhancement
Signed-in users may choose to enable AI Enhancement for supported text review, image recognition, scan recognition or file extraction. When an enabled AI feature is needed, the relevant bounded text, image or file content is sent securely through Clean Copy's backend to OpenAI for that request. OpenAI processes that content to return the requested result. Clean Copy keeps its provider credentials on the server and does not expose them in the website or extension.
AI Text Review may propose bounded, high-confidence grammar, capitalization, word-choice and punctuation corrections permitted by the settings you enabled. It may replace an accidental hard or blank line break inside a sentence with one space, or replace an existing space with a meaningful real line or paragraph break. It does not insert fixed-width visual wrapping, and proposed changes are checked locally before they are applied.
Clean Copy does not store the content sent for AI Enhancement or the AI result in its usage-accounting records. It may retain content-free usage metadata needed to enforce fair-use limits, prevent abuse and operate the service, such as account or installation identifiers, feature type, time, token counts and calculated usage cost. If AI Enhancement is unavailable or a limit is reached, supported local processing remains available.
3. Images and files
Supported images and files are processed locally where Clean Copy supports the relevant format. Clean Copy may inspect or clean hidden characters, formatting and spacing artifacts, tracking parameters, image metadata, supported document text and supported structured text.
Some damaged, encrypted, unsupported or unusually encoded files may not work. PDFs without a compatible extractable text layer may require the optional AI Enhancement extraction method when available.
4. Local storage and preference syncing
Clean Copy may use browser or extension storage to remember product settings such as cleaning preferences, Max Clean, Clean Links, image and file-cleaning preferences, theme, notification preferences and other enabled features.
When you are signed in, supported preferences may also be synced to your Clean Copy account so they can follow you across browsers or devices. Website preferences and browser-extension preferences may be stored separately.
Preference syncing does not upload the content you clean. Text, cleaned text, clipboard contents, images, files, file contents, remembered content and cleaning history are not included in synced account settings. A separate optional AI Enhancement request is handled only as described in Section 2.
Some settings may control whether content is remembered locally, such as a “Remember” or “Keep latest content” preference. The preference itself may be synced when you are signed in, but the content it controls remains stored only on your device.
5. Automatic Copy Cleaning
The browser extension may offer Automatic Copy Cleaning. When enabled, compatible content copied from webpages is processed automatically on your device by default. If optional AI Text Review is enabled, available and used, the relevant text may also be processed as described in Section 2.
This feature is not used to build an advertising profile.
6. Account information
If you create or use a Clean Copy account, we may process information needed to provide that account and determine access, including:
- Email address and account identifier
- Authentication and session information
- Web trial status
- Extension trial and access status where applicable
- Plan and entitlement status
- Subscription and purchase information
- Access periods and billing identifiers
- Account-management actions
- Synced product preferences and settings
- Content-free AI usage and limit information
The content you clean is separate from this account information.
7. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Payment-card details are entered through Stripe's payment environment and are not stored by Clean Copy.
We may receive payment-related information needed to provide paid access, such as customer and subscription identifiers, selected plan, payment status, renewal information, purchase dates, refunds, disputes and entitlement status.
8. Service providers
Clean Copy currently uses service providers for limited account, billing, email and infrastructure functions:
- Supabase for authentication, account information, entitlements, synced preferences and backend functionality.
- Stripe for payments, subscriptions, billing and invoices.
- Resend for necessary transactional emails.
- Cloudflare and related infrastructure for website delivery, performance and security.
- OpenAI for optional AI Enhancement requests when you enable and use those features.
These services do not receive the content you clean as part of Clean Copy's standard local cleaning process. OpenAI receives only the content needed for an optional AI Enhancement request when that feature is used.
9. Website connection information
Normal website infrastructure may receive technical request information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested page, connection time and security-related request information.
This connection information is separate from cleaning content. Cleaning content is uploaded only when an optional AI Enhancement request is used as described above.
10. Browser extension permissions
The Clean Copy extension may request browser permissions required for enabled functionality, including clipboard actions, local storage, Automatic Copy Cleaning, compatible webpage integration, notifications, context-menu functionality and account or entitlement checks.
These permissions are used to provide Clean Copy functionality and not to sell browsing information or build advertising profiles.
11. Cancellation feedback
If you voluntarily provide a cancellation reason or note, that information may be stored with your account to help improve Clean Copy. Cancellation feedback is optional.
12. Why we process account information
Where applicable, personal data may be processed because it is necessary to provide a requested service or contract, comply with legal obligations, protect Clean Copy against fraud or security threats, support users, or because you have provided consent where consent is required.
13. Retention
Local cleaning content remains subject to your browser, extension and device storage.
Synced preferences may remain associated with your Clean Copy account while the account exists so they can be restored across supported browsers or devices.
Account information is generally retained while your account exists and for as long afterward as reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution purposes.
Payment providers and other service providers may retain records where required by law or their applicable retention obligations.
14. Account deletion
You may delete your Clean Copy account using the available account controls. Account deletion is intended to remove the Clean Copy account data designated for deletion, including account-linked preferences where applicable.
Certain payment-provider, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention or other legally required records may remain after account deletion.
15. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, obtain certain information in portable form, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and complain to a competent data-protection authority.
16. International processing
Some service providers may process information outside Estonia or the European Economic Area. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers.
17. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Clean Copy's use and transfer of information received through Chrome extension permissions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information obtained through Chrome extension permissions is used only to provide or improve Clean Copy's disclosed single purpose and user-facing features, including related operational purposes such as security, reliability and abuse prevention.
Such information is transferred only when necessary to provide or improve Clean Copy's disclosed functionality, comply with applicable law, protect against security threats, fraud or abuse, or as otherwise permitted by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
Clean Copy does not sell this information or use or transfer it for personalized, retargeted or interest-based advertising, data-broker purposes, creditworthiness or lending.
Human access to this information is not permitted except with the user's explicit consent to access specific data, when necessary for security purposes or legal compliance, or when data has been aggregated and anonymized for permitted internal operations.
18. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Clean Copy, our providers or applicable legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with its revision date.
